More than 1400 people paid their respects to past and present soldiers at the City of Canning’s Anzac memorial service on Monday.

Thousands more commemorated Anzac Day at dawn services at the Canning Districts RSL and Riverton RSL.

Unfortunately due to inclement weather the afternoon Anzac Day Legacy blues concert was cancelled.

Schools were also heavily involved in services with Rostrata Primary School’s senior band performing the national anthem.

Year three and year six classes joined in singing.

On April 8 before school holidays Rossmoyne Senior High School students commemorated Anzac Day with a special Anzac assembly that marked the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War.
