Curtin University will open its latest art exhibition at the end of July with works the university said it was privileged to showcase.

Opening on July 28 at the John Curtin Gallery the Higher Degrees 17 exhibition will feature works from a number of postgraduate students graduating Higher Degree by Research.

Student Leonie Ngahuia Mansbridge’s work explores her Maori heritage and how her family faced challenges of identity, colonialisation and connection to land.

Other works by Elizabeth Pedler, Kevin Robertson, Alex Spremberg and four other recent higher degree by research graduates.

A series of children’s artworks will be showcased at the university in August.

Featuring art by children aged three to five-years-old the art was created using recyclable materials with a focus on sustainability.

The works will be part of the Emergence exhibition and will include sculptures, collages, silk screening and fibre textiles.

Higher Degrees 17 will show at the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University from July 28 to September 3.

Emergence will show at the same building from August 2 to August 20.
