Only the stumps of the fibreglass cow were left behind.

Mundijong residents were surprised to find one of the three recently installed fibreglass cows stolen last weekend.

On August 21 the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale was left with just the stumps of the cow after offenders cut the legs off and removed it.

The cows were installed on August 10 to coincide with the SJ Community Fair on August 12.

The Mundijong Community Association originally purchased the artworks in 2011 as part of an overall Mundijong locality beautification project, which utilised a locality-funding grant from the shire.

The cows represent the rich dairy history of the shire and were manufactured by Uracast.

Shire president John Erren said he was saddened by the act.

Mundijong Police station is investigating the bizarre theft.

Anyone with information was asked to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Mundijong Police Station on 9526 5111.
