Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale residents donned mullets and flannelettes for Bogan Bingo Night at the weekend.

On Saturday more than 100 residents attended the event at Byford Hall to raise money for the Redback Floorball team.

By the end of the night more than $2000 was raised for the club’s future development and competitions.

Event coordinator Jen Kish said it was a fun night with many people rocking to the music.

She said it was a great community event with local businesses supporting the cause.

Ms Kish also said there were representatives from floorball including locals Sarah Moulton and Isabelle Newland who were selected to play for the Australian womens team and will be travelling to Slovakia later this year.

Byford resident Rob Coales attended with his wife Jodie and he said they had a great night.

“It was nice to see the community coming together for a good cause,” he said.

“I think it’s important to support sporting groups in the community.”

Mr Coales also said it was important to foster an interest in sports for young children because it taught them leaderships skills, boosted their confidence and helped them make friends.

The Redbacks were looking for more players aged between eight and 16-years to join the team.

Similar to indoor hockey the Redbacks play floorball all year round.
