The RSPCA is currently investigating a cat shooting which is believed to have happened between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday night, September 19, on Henry George Close in Byford.
A family cat went outside around 7.30pm and came in at approximately 9.30pm and was bleeding from a wound to its abdomen.
The cat was rushed to a vet but died from its injuries. An air rifle pellet was recovered from the cat.
The RSPCA is also investigating a recent spate of baiting attacks, which occurred in Gosnells, Seville Grove, Dianella, Northam and East Victoria Park.
The animal welfare charity said it does not condone threats of poisoning animals and is encouraging pet owners to be aware of any disturbance their pet may be causing to neighbours and take swift action to mitigate problems to prevent things from escalating.
Investigations into these incidents are underway and prosecution proceedings have begun involving a baiting case, which occurred earlier in the year.
The RSPCA is currently working with police in regards to the above matters.

It is an offence, under section 19(1) of the Animal Welfare Act (2002), to intentionally or recklessly injure an animal.
Those found guilty face maximum penalties of a $50,000 fine and up to five years in prison.
