The William Langford Community House has received more than $66,000 to fund crisis supplies for Canning residents in need.

Member for Cannington Bill Johnston presented a Lotterywest Grants certificate worth $66,700 to WLCH on February 23, which will be used to fund emergency relief for struggling locals including food and petrol vouchers, nappies, baby formula and prescriptions.

WLCH manager Maria Cavill said the organisation helps people from a variety of backgrounds including those who are struggling financially, with disability or domestic abuse, or who are recent migrants.

Ms Cavill said the organisation appreciated any support.

“Any contribution, any amount, is important to the community here,” she said.

Mr Johnston said Langford was an area that often needed outside support.

“Every survey and investigation shows that Langford is an area that has high unmet needs,” he said.

“William Langford Community House is a small, community-focused group and al the resources that go to WLCH help the community directly.”
