A sizeable grant has helped one local not-for-profit organisation purchase a trailer, which in turn will be able to assist the entire community.
The Rotary Club of Byford and Districts was on the receiving end of a $25,000 grant earlier this year, which assisted with the purchase of a purpose-built food trailer.
President Chris Thomas said he had applied for the Bendigo Bank grant on behalf of the club as it would have taken the organisation years to raise that amount of money.
“The whole idea behind it was to have a facility for our club but also to offer it out as a community trailer for people to hire when they need it,” he said.
“The grant has fast-tracked where we want to go and has broadened our horizons for our fundraising efforts in the future.”
The trailer has already been used at this month’s fair in Mundijong and will appear again at the Serpentine Jarrahdale Lions Log Chop event next month.
Mr Thomas said the organisation chose to feature local landmarks such as Serpentine Falls and Byford street art on the trailer’s exterior alongside the Rotary branding.
