Old wooden support posts from the now demolished Roleystone Primary School have been salvaged and will be repurposed into something locals can treasure for decades to come.
Two members from Roleystone Men’s Community Shed have been working hard to keep up with the steady stream of orders for their one-of-a-kind wooden trinket boxes.
Chairman Phil Aked said the recycled support posts taken from the verandah area of the old school were the best items that could be turned into something special from the available wood supply.
“Everyone who has purchased them like them for being recycled and also because they are a part of Roleystone’s history for either them or their children,” he said.
Mr Aked said each box came with a certificate of authentication with all monies raised going towards the build of the group’s proposed new shed at Springdale Park.
The Roleystone Men’s Community Shed is currently located on Robin Road at the back of the old school site, however the site will soon be home to seniors housing.
