Willetton residents got a master class in eight ball pool on Sunday as members of the WA state team visited Southlands shopping centre to show off their skills.

The team members included 16-year-old Stone Stenhouse who was the current under 18s singles world number four and Australian champion.

The players wowed shoppers with an exhibition of trick shots and children were able to get on the tables with the pool four kids program.

There was also singles competitions which were taken out by Riley Edger in the under 12s category and Brodie Deans in the under 15s category.

WA eight ball junior team manager and development officer Stuart Kingsbury said it was great to put WA’s talent on show.

“The players competed against each other in what we call the skill drills, it’s quite challenging and it’s entertaining as well,” he said.

“Sunday’s state junior exhibition sponsored by Clive Ryan, drew a crowd of onlookers who were entertained with the show of skill put on by these young players.”

Mr Kingsbury said with recent wins in the sport for both WA and Australia pool was experiencing resurgence.

“There’s a lot of talent out there, WA has had a really strong pool program for quite some time,” he said.

“We’re actually holding the Australian championships in Perth next year.”
