Even though it has been a little over a month since the AFL grand final, Trigger Dunn still gleams from ear to ear whenever anyone mentions the amazing win.

The eight-year-old Roleystone boy, who has only ever been a fan of the West Coast Eagles, was awarded a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only be there on grand final day to watch his team succeed but also present a medal to one of his favourite players Mark LeCras.

Trigger was one of only 21 other excited youngsters to present the medals on the big stage and be rewarded with a hat and a handshake from the legends themselves.

He also attended the grand final parade, played at half time on the MCG, walked the red carpet with some of the games former legends, held the AFL premiership cup and stayed in the same hotel as all the West Coast Eagles players and staff.

Trigger said the flight over to Melbourne felt like forever but it was an amazing experience.

“In the first quarter I didn’t think we had much of a chance but in the last quarter I knew we had it although I was really nervous,” he said.

“At the presentation we didn’t get told who we would be giving the medal to but I looked at my number so I knew I was going to give it to LeCras.”

Trigger who has been playing Auskick since he was in pre-primary was selected to head along to the big game with his dad Clayton thanks to a video his sister Eleanor made of him kicking the football in the backyard.

Mr Dunn said the experience was a big tick off the bucket list.

“It was an awesome experience with everything laid on including meeting all the football stars and the night was like going to the Brownlow,” he said.

“NAB and Auskick have got it sorted, they look after everyone so well and it was great to meet all the kids and mums and dads from the other states.”
