In a few years’ time Jayden Ryder would love to be known as one of the world’s most famous indigenous soccer stars.
At just 12-years-old and in year seven at Kelmscott Senior High the talented midfielder has recently been selected to take part at Perth Glory Football Club’s exclusive academy preparation centre.
The developmental program creates a pathway for young, inspiring players like Jayden to transition from recreational learning to Perth Glory’s elite national premier league academy teams.
His mother Kylie de Clifford said the opportunity meant everything to him as he eats, sleeps and breathes soccer.
“It’s not competitive, it’s purely for development and preparation to tryout and be successful in joining the Perth Glory squad for 2020,” she said.
“He may not be in the big leagues yet but keep an eye out for him.
“He won’t stop kicking until his dreams come true and we will support him in everything he does.”
School specialist soccer program coordinator Peter Cooke described Jayden as a tenacious player who was always hungry for the ball during training.
“The opportunity to join the training academy will certainly allow him to develop his skills and increase his knowledge by working under the expert guidance of the Perth Glory coaching staff,” he said.
“It will also give Jayden the chance to see how full time players train and the ingredients needed to play at a professional level.”
Jayden will play with the academy side during half time at this Saturday’s Perth Glory game at nib Stadium.
