Fed up residents from Camillo and as far as Gosnells will help collect signatures for the petition calling on the state government to fix the issues at Denny Avenue this Saturday outside the Spudshed in Kelmscott.
Camillo resident Gwen Singh will receive help from locals and even from friends in Gosnells but called for more volunteers.
She had experienced multiple near misses at the level crossing and said it was a hotbed for terrible driving.
“That intersection has become so dangerous, it was bad before but it’s 10 times worse now,” she said.
“My 84-year-old mother is too frightened to come to my house because it means coming up Denny Avenue. We need to draw attention to the fact that this needs to be sorted now.”
The petition was drafted by Member for Armadale Tony Buti and will be presented in parliament to the transport and planning ministers.
Ms Singh said she would be outside Spudshed from 9.30am to 4pm.
The road has already been the subject of an online petition by Camillo resident Laura Shockthorap, which had received almost 500 signatures.
Despite being less than 200 metres long all three intersections on the road appeared in the City of Armadale’s worst intersections list and it was one of the worst level crossings for accidents in Perth.
