Jarrahdale’s current entry statement will soon be swapped with a replacement to the tune of more than $13,000 after the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale deemed the old design to be at the end of its useful life.
The shire is seeking to engage an artist to design, develop and construct a new entry statement for the historic town which will accurately represent the community.
The commission fee for the project was $13,000.
However a further $2250 will be allocated to artist shortlisting fees and further indirect project costs such as advertising, contract royalties and contingency will also apply.
Shire president Michelle Rich said the community would be consulted in the selection of the replacement entry statement.
“This is an exciting project for the Jarrahdale community,” she said.
“The initial brief is intentionally broad to allow for creativity.
“At the end of the request for proposal period the shire’s public art assessment panel will shortlist three artists.”
The panel will include shire officers, a council representative and a community representative.
Submissions for the preliminary design close at 2pm on June 12.
The shire anticipates an artist will be commissioned in September with installation due by December 2019.
