If you enjoy reading books and want to dive into a new reading experience, there is now a community book swap in town.
The book swap is an opportunity for the community to bring a book and swap it for free for another good read.
St Andrews Anglican Church spokesperson Wendy Smith said the idea of the book swap came about after regular garage sales at the church in Thornlie.
“This brought in many donations of books and hearing about a similar community book swap in another suburb, we decided to try it ourselves,” she said.
“We are a church commit- ted to service in the community and we hoped to provide a free, friendly place for book lovers to browse and find a book to take home.”
There is a good variety of well- known fiction including a biography travel, Christian books and a children’s section.
Those who have visited and some regulars have swapped from a variety of books but usually the fiction sections go first.
Wendy Smith said they want to en- courage members of the community to come and have a look at the book stock, swap and interact with other book lovers in the area.
“We would love this to expand and look towards a time when we can think about it developing into a book café,” she said.
You can join the community book swap every Saturday from 2pm to 4pm at the garage at 2 Griffith Way, Thornlie, next to the St Andrews Church.
