What a better way to start a Monday than with athletics and finish the week with a carnival fully dedicated to young aspiring athletes from Gosnells Primary School.
Physical education teacher and carnival organiser Dominique Paskos said students looked forward to the annual carnival all year.
“It was a fantastic athletics carnival this year,” she said.
“The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and our students showed great sportsmanship all round.
“There were a number of standout performances and very close races throughout the day.”
Students who finished in the top two would be invited to participate in the interschool athletics carnival next term.
The events began on Monday with students participating in long jump, triple jump, an 800-metre race and a 400-metre race.
At the main carnival on Friday students participated in a wide variety of events including sprint races, leader ball, pass ball, tin relay, egg and spoon, sack race and a shuttle relay with the day finishing off with tug of war.
Students had an opportunity to be part of different factions such as Thor, Pegasus, Apollo and Centaur.
They all fought hard throughout the day but Pegasus finished on top.
Ms Paskos said the day could not have been so successful without the help of generous volunteers.
