He is well known for having built a shield to protect people battling against depression using art as a form of expression and now he wants to reduce homelessness.
Gavin ‘Gracey’ Grace is teaming up with a group of local leaders, business and organisations that are working to reduce homelessness in the City of Gosnells.
City of Gosnells mayor Glenn Dewhurst called the meeting a few weeks ago and the group will be finding ways to collaborate, support and design real time solutions to the problem.
However Gracey has been working for a while now towards reducing homelessness and recently fed more than 200 vulnerable people in the community.
“Operation Pumanawa (Heart Beat) was our homeless event designed to engage the Maori community here in Perth to be active in community building by sharing our culture, cuisine and customs,” he said.
“We delivered 240 meals and entertained vulnerable members of our city for three hours at Real Life Church.”
The founder of community art and outreach group ‘Art Vs Depression’ recently opened a space for local groups to utilise for crafts, projects and meeting in collaboration with The Resilient Friends Club.
He also runs the Power Zone Project to inspire, empower and connect with local schools, including Lynwood High School.
On October 10, Gracey will be running a ‘women’s worth female empowerment’ event and women from the community are welcome to attend.
