Elizabeth Reed will launch her book Emma's Way later this month.

A Bedfordale author has put pen to paper to produce her very first published book.

Elizabeth Reed’s book Emma’s Way is an old-fashioned, light-hearted romance set in the 1970s in rural England.

Ms Reed wrote the original version in the 1980s and looked at it intermittently over the years but wasn’t really satisfied with it.

“It was only earlier this year when attending a workshop given by Western Australian author Rosanne Dingli and I explained a bit about the plot and she said she would be interested to read a story like it,” she said.

“That’s when I found the confidence to rework it and the final version after many proof readings only arrived a few days ago.”

Ms Reed said she was grateful for the help she received from designer Peter Searle who designed the cover and also Pamela Henderson and Linda Searle whose input made the book better.

Emma’s Way is not a deeply profound book, not likely to win any prizes or top any best-seller lists,” she said.

“It’s not a great book, but it has a beginning, a middle and an end and it’s a finished product, which for me is very satisfying.

“To all those would be authors out there, if I can do it, anyone can so go for it.”

A book launch will be held at Waterwheel Gallery on Waterwheel Road, Bedfordale on November 29 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

All are welcome to attend and nibbles and signed copies of the book will be available.
