Nahan calling it a day

Member for Riverton Mike Nahan will call it a day in 2021.

After 12 years representing the people of Riverton Mike Nahan feels the 2021 election will be the right time to move on.

Mr Nahan said he had made the decision to retire as he believed it was time to move onto something different and offer another person the opportunity to advocate for the local community.

“I’ll miss the many people from the community that I’ve had regular interactions
with,” he said.

“I will leave with the fondest memories of my time in Riverton of the many people whose lives I have come to be part of in some small way.

“However I am really proud of the investment we have made into our education system both locally here in the Riverton electorate and more broadly across the state.”

Mr Nahan was asked by The Examiner about some of the controversy and challenges he had to face during his service.

“Locally the major challenges during my 12 years have related to local government reform, the cuts by the McGowan Government to Rossmoyne Senior High School and Willetton Senior High School as well as the problems that confronted the delivery of the Perth Freight Link,” he said.

As a Willetton resident, Mr Nahan said he will continue to be involved with the community but will leave the decision as to what’s next until after next election.
