A local fire brigade is hoping the community will show its support and give generously at a family-friendly event next weekend.
Bedfordale Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade will be hosting a thank you fundraising event at Churchman Brook Community Centre in the hopes of raising vital funds for its new station on Admiral Road.
Event organiser Liz Sacco said many brigade members had been working around the clock to not only protect the local community but also many communities over east that have been affected by devastating summer bushfires.
She said the fundraiser will be a great opportunity for the public to come together and say thanks for the tremendous efforts of its local volunteers.
“There are lots of ways you can support the brigade,” she said.
“We have a fantastic raffle with some amazing prizes and some of our brigade members will be competing to see who can last the longest on the bucking bull.
“We will be having a silent auction, there will be merchandise for sale and the Bedfordale Country Women’s Association are having a bake stall with all proceeds going to the brigade.”
The event will also feature five food trucks, a bouncy castle for children as well as information about how to be bushfire ready.
It will be held on February 22 from 3pm to 8pm.
