About 30 free food hampers are prepared at the Gosnells Salvation Army every week in the hope of helping people in need during the health crisis.
However, members of the church are encouraging people in need to contact them as numbers have surprisingly decreased for the past two weeks.
The Salvos team are doing phone interviews with people in need to arrange suitable times for food hamper deliveries by officer lieutenant Ben Hollis in the afternoon.
Although the church is currently closed, church secretary Mavis Clark said the food hamper and welfare operations are ongoing on Wednesdays and Fridays.
“While COVID-19 restrictions are on we are still carrying out our help for people who need food,” she said.
“We have quite a lot of food donations given to us and we want to be able to use them to help people.”
