Major Crash officers are investigating a collision at the notoriously dangerous Denny Avenue intersection which claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Sunday afternoon.
A white Toyota Prado was travelling east on Denny Avenue in Kelmscott about 2.40pm when it collided with a black Triumph motorcycle.
The rider of the motorcycle died at Armadale Hospital, while the pillion passenger sustained serious injuries.
The section of Albany Highway between Westfield Road and Cammillo Road remained closed in both directions for several hours while major crash officers examined the scene.
On Monday, flowers and cards had been placed at the crash site alongside an Australian Flag in memory of the rider.
For several consecutive years, the 175-metre stretch of road has ranked among the most dangerous in the state – with poorly timed traffic lights and a confusing layout.
In the last five years, there have been more than 140 crashes at the intersection.
The intersection is currently undergoing major reconstruction works, with the removal of the level crossing.
