A new multipurpose sports hall could be on the cards for Roleystone Community College if the McGowan government is re-elected next month.

On Monday the McGowan government announced a promise to invest in education across Western Australia including $9.7 million for new facilities at Roleystone Community College.

After strong advocacy from the Roleystone CC P&C, $8 million has been committed to the construction of a multipurpose sports hall.

The plans include a stage and classrooms, which will expand the performing arts and physical education curriculum.

The new space will also provide an all-weather whole school assembly space.

A further $1.7 million has been allocated to improve science and IT labs for the secondary school at Roleystone CC and convert a classroom into a science lab for the primary school.

A further $25,000 has also been allocated for science lab equipment.

Previously the McGowan Labor Government has invested more than $290,000 into Roleystone Community College including maintenance, shade sails and playground equipment, a trailer for containers for change and upgrades to the College’s kiss and ride.

Member for Darling Range, Hugh Jones said he’s proud to announce the upgrades for Roleystone.

“The new multipurpose sports hall will herald a new era of performing arts and sports education at Roleystone Community College,” he said.

“Further, our STEM upgrades will help prepare Roleystone students for the jobs of the future.”

President of the Roleystone Community College P&C, Scott Mosey, said  the announcement is fantastic news for Roleystone CC.

“Our P&C has been strongly advocating for a new sports hall at Roleystone,” he said.

“This commitment will ensure our students have fantastic facilities in which to learn and grow.”
