Parents at Woodland Grove Primary School are holding a unique fundraiser to raise money for school equipment.
The Parents and Citizens committee (P&C) at Woodland Grove PS are hosting resin and painting workshops to raise money for the school’s wish list.
Parent Hayley Chittenden is organising the classes, which will be held in a rustic barn in Byford.
“To my knowledge there has not been much like this offered in Byford before,” Ms Chittenden said.
“We have such an amazing, giving community and I was very lucky to be donated the use of a gorgeous rustic barn that is such a perfect spot to host the classes.”
The art workshop idea began when a West Australian artist and good friend of Ms Chittenden approached her, to see if she would like to host a workshop.
“I thought it would be such a unique opportunity to share with the community as a whole as well as a chance to fundraise for the school,” she said.
At this stage the committee is likely holding four classes total with two painting classes and two resin classes with 26 people per class.
Last year the P&C fundraised $10,000 for new shade sails at the school as well as learning resources.
This year the money will go towards new math resources and the schools outreach program, which provides funds for family’s needing assistance with uniforms, booklists and excursions.
Another major fundraiser for the school is their first school fete being held in November, with the P&C wanting as much of the community involved as possible.
“We are very excited for the fete and we’re passionate about involving as much of the local community and beyond. Having them involved through stalls selling their products and providing services such as entertainment and food.”
