Members of The Military Brotherhood Motorcycle Club (MMC) are on a mission to prevent suicide and improve the mental health of veterans.

The club will be fundraising for veterans this Sunday with a ride from Armadale RSL to Burswood.

The event named the ‘Conscious Resilience Initiative’ was created to connect veterans and the community, connect like-minded members of the community, and increase awareness surrounding issues facing veterans, such as ongoing serious health issues.

President of Military Brotherhood MMC, Rod ‘Jonno’ Jonsson said their goal is always to help veterans.

“A veteran we have previously helped will be at the event, we found him living in the bush behind Armadale. We got him accommodation and a job in FIFO and now he’s living a normal life,” he said.

“That was through the help of the Armadale RSL. Us working together to get him back on his feet.”

Sunday will see registration at Armadale RSL commencing at 7.30am, with meet and greet with special guests Heston Russell, Julie-Ann Finney, Doug Baird O.A.M and Glenn Marskell with Miss Dakota and the ANZAC Ribbon Tribute SS.

“Our three guest speakers have been working tirelessly across the country with focus on a Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide,” Michele Wunderlich, Director of Core Security, said.

“These events will give them a further opportunity to speak with more veterans and the community here in Western Australia giving a bigger voice for our WA veterans.”

The Tribute SS is covered from boot to bonnet in ANZAC images, created to raise money and awareness for PTSD and the benefits of assistance dogs for veterans.

The Tribute SS will lead the ride, which begins at around 10.15am after short speeches and a safety briefing.

Upon arrival in Burswood at around 11.30am, the convoy will be met with a barbecue and motorcycle rides for the kids.

There will be raffles of donated items on the day as well.

“We are always raising money for veterans, we always do a ride each year to raise money for Legacy. Last year we raised $8,000,” said Mr Jonsson.

“This event gets all the people that are trying to help veterans together, to help us help veterans.”
