East Kenwick Primary School student Shivani Panneri, 10, is doing everything in her power to raise awareness about Autism.

Shivani will he holding a special fundraising event/exhibition on April 17, from 10am-1pm at the Kenwick Community Centre.

The 10-year-old artist will be displaying and selling off 25-30 of her own original paintings.

Funds raised from next week’s event will be donated to the Autism Association of Western Australia.

The organisation provides much-needed assistance for those suffering from Autism, as well as their families.

Representatives from the City of Gosnells, state government, and Autism Association of WA are expected to attend.

Shivani’s mother, Shyma Anandan, said she was immensely proud of her daughter’s accomplishments.

“Shivani is really passionate and very kind…we want to encourage her to do more of these kinds of things,” she said.

“Shivani wants to show – and prove – that kids can make a real difference in this world.

“She really wants to be a politician in the future.”

Held in April each year, the Autism Awareness Month campaign was set up to provide support to people with Autism across Australia.
