Maddington White City FC’s 100 per cent start to the season was ended by Kwinana United on Sunday, May 8.
Travelling to Nikola Tesla Reserve, Kwinana started the game stronger and went ahead after 17 minutes through Sean Troup.
Maddington responded positively, and pulled a goal back after Jose Zuniga converted a penalty.
The game was all-square at the break, and was poised for an exciting second half.
Troup restored Kwinana’s lead at the 59-minute mark, before Jake Daley made it 3-1 10 minutes later from a well-taken free kick.
Daley was later red-carded in the match, which also had nine bookings, but Kwinana saw the game out to take home the points.
Maddington then made the long trip to Bunbury to take on South West Phoenix, at WML Stadium, on May 15.
Goals to Yohann Crampon (11th minute), Samir Ramos (28th), and Nicolas Pardo (42nd) put Maddington in front 3-0 before half time.
SW Phoenix’s Lydon Hodgkiss (67th) and Lee Stewart (89th) did well to close the gap – and run circles around Maddington’s defenders – in the second half.
The trip down south was worth it, with Maddington going on to claim a well-deserved 3-2 victory.
Three teams – Maddington, UWA Nedlands SC, and Quinns FC – are now level on 12 points at the top of the Belt Up Amateur Premier Division ladder.
Maddington remains top on goal difference, ahead of its round six clash with Joondalup United FC on Sunday, May 30.
