Tony Clark is the Chairperson for the Bungendore Park Environmental Group.

The Bungendore Park Environmental Group will hold a special Art in the Park event next month from September 16 to 19.

Artists are invited to the park and create artwork using the medium of their choice.

The BPEG with help from other community groups will provide a gazebo, tables and chairs, water, tea and coffee, and a trailer of toilets for the event.

Chairperson for the Bungendore Park Environmental Group, Tony Clark said the idea began last year when visiting Collie.

“I was visiting my brother and his wife in Collie last Spring,” he said.

“My sister in law is an artist and we were exploring the bush land near Collie, looking at wildflowers.

“I recognised that they were all present in Bungendore Park, when my Sister in law mentioned that she was painting many of them.

“I discussed the possibility of holding an art event in Bungendore Park and my brother and sister in law were very supportive of this idea.

“We grabbed the idea and we ran it past the committee and they liked it.

“City of Armadale are paying for the trailer and the toilet; the Environment Centre have a six-metre gazebo and we also have a three-metre gazebo.

“So, we’ll bring it up and set it up in the park.”

According to Mr Clark, the Armadale Society of Artists support the event and the BPEG are expecting a nice turn out.

The event is free and will be held at Bungendore Park in Bedfordale.

Donations will be accepted at the event, which goes towards the BPEG to assist them in maintaining the park and surrounds.

The park is home to many walking and hiking trails of various difficulty and dogs are welcomed, on leash preferred.
