Players from the Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club Integrated team were chosen and invited to take part in the Inclusion Football Academy and Draft Combine.
Five of the clubs Integrated players were chosen including Peter Gaitskell, Matthew Hawkes, Larry Tadday, Justin Storen and Tim Davies.
The five Bulldogs said they really enjoyed the program and meeting many fellow players and league coaches.
Kelmscott Integrated Coach Robert Turner said the players were selected upon their dedication and leadership this season and were greatly supported by their fellow team mates.
“The Kelmscott participants are not the only residents from the Kelmscott – Armadale and South East Corridor, with several other local residents participating in the Academy and Draft from other teams, illustrating the strong and aspiring sporting talent in the area,” he said.
“Among them is Kelmscott resident Tyson Worthington who won Best on Ground in the Integrated Grand Final last month playing for his Willetton 2021 Integrated Premiership Team, and Roleystone resident Geoff Stewart who has been a recent ambassador for the City of Armadale ‘Faces of Armadale’ and Disability Inclusion Development.”
Kelmscott Bulldogs Football Club Hosted the A and B Integrated Grand Finals earlier last month, which saw the participation of 100 athletes living with difficulty or disability, and was greatly supported by a momentous crowd flooding the oval banks.
Perth Football League’s Integrated Competition ‘Inclusion Football Academy’ expands the Talent program for footballers with a disability.
Aimed at footballers with a disability aged 16 years and above, the Academy, under the guidance of head coaches – centres around the development of football, wellbeing and leadership.
Players were selected based on their leadership, empathy, performance and willingness to learn by their clubs.
All players who are invited are required to attend the first three sessions, a final Inclusion Academy Squad of 36 players will be chosen then to participate in the remaining five sessions which include leadership, game sense, personal well being and two to three exhibition games under lights on October 20 and 27.
