Was an ambulance called to a local gun club to treat a gunshot wound?
That is the question hanging over Canning Vale’s Canning Club, as rumours swirl over the circumstances of a St John WA ambulance attending the club at 166 Johnston Road.
Examiner News understands that man shot himself in the foot after holstering his weapon.
The ambulance service confirmed a vehicle attended the premises at 5.22pm on Wednesday September 22, transporting a man in his 50s to Royal Perth Hospital.
St John WA would not confirm the nature of the injuries, and a spokesperson for the East Metropolitan Health Service said the nature of the injuries sustained by the man could not be divulged without patient permission.
WA Police said they had no record of police being called to the club to investigate.
The Firearms Act of 1973 states that that if a medical practitioner or registered nurse believes medical attention has been sought for an injury involving a firearm, nothing prevents the health professional from informing police.
After calling the mobile number listed for the club, Examiner Newspapers asked John – who did not give his surname – if he could confirm a man had shot himself in the foot after holstering his weapon.
John said no, and again said no when asked if he was saying he could not confirm the story or if he was saying the incident never occurred.
