The William Lockard playground near North Harrisdale Primary School will be getting a makeover in the new year.
The City of Armadale has reserved $217,000 in the current budget to replace the play equipment and soft-fall matting.
The city is asking for community feedback on two different concept plans which are available to view on the Engage Armadale website.
The designs include forts with multiple slides and climbing elements and a basket swing.
The current shade sails and footpaths will be kept as they are.
Council has said there are no plans to build a toilet in the playground.
“Not every park has a toilet. Public toilets are usually located in what are known as district parks or destination parks. These parks encourage longer stays with facilities and activities,” council officers said.
“It is important that council builds toilets in locations where they are most needed. It costs around $24,000 a year to operate a public toilet facility, including cleaning, maintenance, and asset management costs – regardless of how many people use them.”
Public feedback will be collected until October 17 with an estimated construction start date of March 2024.
Works are expected to be completed by June next year.
