Armadale Cricket Club have had a huge weekend of cricket with five wins.

On Saturday, fifth grade took on Cockburn and batted first after winning the toss. After losing a wicket on the first ball of the innings Rhett Jones and Jeff Petrie (38) combined for a magnificent 124 run partnership. Their dismissals saw a huge collapse as Armadale fell to 8-157. Skipper Taymon McLaughlin then stepped up and smashed 38no, including three maximums as Armadale reached 8-198 from their 35 overs. In reply Cockburn started well and looked solid at 1-74 before a fine spell by Rhys Jones (3-23 from seven overs) helped turn the tide. Jeff Petrie then snared 4-30 to see Armadale ease home as Cockburn were dismissed for 172.

Fifth Grade

On Sunday, fifth grade took on Thornlie who won the toss and bowled. A very early wicket brought Jeff Petrie to the crease, and he turned back the clock with a majestic innings. He was aided firstly by Robert Buckland (23) before he was joined by Rhys Jones. Jones then went spano, smacking them everywhere for a sensational 86no from just 53 balls, including 6 sixes. Meanwhile Petrie continued his sublime innings and finished on a magnificent 111no from 103 balls, hitting 15 boundaries along the way as Armadale amassed 3-251. In reply Thornlie started well to be 0-52, and then 2-100 before falling away to be all out for 135. Alex Pass had a day out, snaring 4-14 from 7, while Rhys Jones completed a fine double with 3-32.

Seventh Grade

Seventh grade also played a double header and took on Cannington first who won the toss and batted. They started fairly well to reach 4-99 before collapsing to be 113 all out. James Gardner (3-19) and Luke Williams (3-23) were the stars with the ball. In reply, Will Hunt and James Ogden (26) put on 94 for the opening wicket to all but seal the game. Hunt went on to score a fine 98, from only 78 balls, before 5 other batsmen chipped in with double figure scores, led by Joel Elsley (22) as Armadale finished on 7-238.

On Sunday, seventh grade took on Kardinya and bowled first after winning the toss. It seemed a great call when Armadale crumbled to 4-23. Luke Williams then found valuable allies in Kalon Fabbro (29) and Joel Elsley (27) as he monstered the attack. He smashed 104no off just 86 balls, including 5 sixes as Armadale finished on 7-216. In reply, Kardinya were solid but were unable to threaten for the win, finishing on 4-162, with all the bowlers sharing the wickets, with Cam Gibb (1-23 off 7) the pick of them.

 

One Day H

One Day H took on Willetton who won the toss and bowled. Bijoy Tharian (34) and Steve Jones (17) got off to a good start before Derek Goscombe took control, making a fine run a ball 52. Peter Smith then finished the innings beautifully, carving out an old school classic 60no from just 41 balls, going large 4 times, as Armadale finished on 4-212. In reply Willetton started steadily to be 1-57 after Paul Edwards started well (1-6 from 4), before Derek Goscombe (2-9) and Chetan Kalia (2-8) bowled beautifully to see Willetton all out for 107.

One Day B

One Day B took on Cannington who won the toss and batted. It was a good call as they amassed a huge 7-290 with Muhammad Ali Arshad (2-33) and Sai Karthik Tadepalli (three wickets) being the best of the bowlers. In reply Abdul Kareem Dudekula (66) and Muhammad Ali Arshad (57) did well for the third wicket, but Armadale fell away thereafter to be dismissed for 170.

One Day C

One Day C played Phoenix and batted first after winning the toss. After 3 early wickets Armadale were in trouble at 3-36, but Basil Mathai (29) and Leemon Thomas (34) got Armadale back on track at 3-98. Unfortunately, it was all downhill thereafter and Armadale were rolled for 127. In reply Phoenix cruised home at 2-129, with Ajith Rajagopal and Anto Baby the wicket takers.

One Day D

One Day D played Canning Vale who chose to bat first. A magnificent spell by Rajesekar Vijayakumar (4-19) saw Armadale right on top, before Ani Daniel (2-25) and Sathish Manogaran (2-20) kept things going as Canning Vale were dismissed for 116. In reply, Armadale never got going at all and were dismissed for 75, with Ani Daniel top scoring with 13.

Under 17

The Under 17’s have gone down in a close hard-fought game with Lesmurdie Blue who won the toss and bowled. Armadale were in all sorts of trouble as they slipped from 1-26 to 6-44 in no time. Arman Kanyan and Alen Paul then batted beautifully, both retiring to give Armadale hope. Rathish Karthikeyan (14) then chipped in before Kanyan (28) and Paul (36no) came back in to see Armadale all out in the final over for 133. In reply, Armadale started well with the ball to keep the runs low but were unable to get any breakthroughs. Rajzhan D’Sylva (1-7 off 3) gave Armadale hope, while Alen Paul (0-20 off 6) bowled well. Lesmurdie were able to scrape home in the second last over, to finish on 3-144.
