While the festive season can be filled with fun and frivolity, for those experiencing family discord, isolation or mental health issues it can sometimes be fraught, lonely and distressing.
Armadale Head to Health adult mental health centre is open from 10am to 8pm every day of the year, including all public holidays and weekends, for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional issues.
Located at 65 Church Ave, Armadale, it is a free, community-based walk-in service for adults living in Perth’s south – no referral, Medicare card or appointment needed.
“This time leading up to and throughout Christmas and New Year can sometimes be really stressful. At the same time, many mental health providers are closed or have reduced hours,” Armadale Head to Health Manager Ruth Lawrence said.
“We are happy to be here providing free support every single day throughout this time for people in Perth’s south, so they can get the mental health and emotional support they need when they need it.
“Our staff are ready and waiting to have a chat.”
The centre is designed as a friendly, welcoming environment with a range of mental health professionals on hand to provide advice and support, along with assessment and short- to-medium-term treatment if needed.
People can also call the Head to Health Phone Service on 1800 595 212 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm, including public holidays. It offers a free confidential assessment and referral for anyone seeking help for their mental and emotional wellbeing, or wanting to support someone they care about.
