Orienteering WA is encouraging people to have a go at their MetrO event at Piara Waters this Saturday.
Orienteering is a map reading sport where participants have to find their way around a course marked on a map in as short a time as possible.
The ‘thought sport’ is suitable for a wide range of people, including children from 7-years-old, elite athletes and mature aged people up to 80.
MetrO is suitable for babies in prams, and dogs on leads are also welcome. Entrants can compete individually or in groups on a 3km, 5km or 8km course.
No experience or equipment is necessary, with briefing given to newcomers.
Online registration is preferable, but on-the-day registration will also be available from 4.15 for a 5pm mass start.
Orienteering WA also has a full summer program of events on its website at www.wa.orienteering.asn.au Anyone wanting to try something different, or see new areas in the city each Saturday is welcome to join in.
