Former student Paul Tanner with Lynwood SHS teacher Kerry Burvill.

Paul Tanner, Lynwood High School’s first student in 1974, popped in recently to meet Kerry Burvill, who is still teaching generations of Lynwood SHS students, design and technology.

He has taught in the school for 50 years and is valued and appreciated by all staff for his quiet achievement, impact on students and collegial nature over the years.

Paul was officially the first student on school grounds when his dad dropped him off at 7.30am on the first day of school at Cannington Senior High School.

Lynwood Senior High School was established in 1974, not on its current site but in eight demountable classrooms in the grounds of Cannington Senior High School.

Paul Tanner’s dad was the first P&C treasurer, and his mum was a volunteer in the canteen. His children later attended Lywnood SHS.

The school invites all community members for its community fiesta on Saturday March 23 12-6pm.

People are encouraged to bring a picnic rug, enjoy the licensed bar and food trucks, while listening to performances and engaging with displays.

This event is both pet and smoke free.
