Armadale’s fifth grade are through to the grand final after a magnificent victory against the Perth Tamils.
Armadale won the toss and batted first, and while Rhett Jones chipped in with 19, steady wickets fell to see Armadale in all sorts of trouble eat 5-69.
Rhys Jones batted superbly to make 59 to put Armadale in a much better position at 6-119. Unfortunately, the tail fell away, and Armadale were dismissed for 122.
At stumps on Saturday the Tamils would have been confident at 1-25. Come Sunday and all the Armadale bowlers bowled superbly.
Ainsley Noronha started things off with the first two wickets (2-19 off 17 overs), before Rhys Mackie then chipped in with the next two (2-29 from 17 overs).
Taymon McLaughlin (2-21 from 14 overs) then piped up to take two himself, while Alex Pass gave another masterclass of strangulation.
Pass bowled 17 superb overs to snare 4-13 as the Tamils were dismissed for 96 after facing 70 overs.
Seventh grade
Seventh grade have gone down in another low-scoring, close game in their clash with Kardinya. Kardinya won the toss and batted but were in deep trouble early as they fell to 5-59. They recovered well to be 5-105 before Armadale ripped through the tail to see them all out for 119. Cam Gibb was the star, taking 5-34 from 23 masterly overs, while Ash Garven bowled superbly to take 2-36 from 21 overs.
In reply Armadale lost two very early wickets before Joel Elsley (12), Ash Garven (17) and Luke Williams (14) all got starts and got Armadale to 2-40 and looking comfortable. Unfortunately, a steady stream of wickets followed, and Armadale could only manage 101, with Kalon Fabbro fighting hard with 19.
One Day C
One Day C took on Phoenix who won the toss and batted. Ajith Rajogopal (2-34) started well with two early wickets while Anto Baby (2-34) also bowled well as Phoenix made 5-167 from their 35 overs.
In reply Armadale were in deep trouble at 4-47 before Sinju Karim (49) and Shameem Chakkittammal (32) batted beautifully together to get Armadale back on top.
Unfortunately, with the run rate creeping up Armadale lost regular wickets to be dismissed for 132.
One Day G
One Day G have unfortunately had an off day at the wrong time, going down to Thornlie.
Armadale won the toss and batted, and after a wicket on the first ball, Jake Edwards (15) and Paul Edwards (18) got Armadale back on track, before Steve Nichols batted well for a solid 33.
Armadale fell away thereafter, being dismissed for just 95.
In reply, Armadale fought hard, with Thornlie taking 30 overs to pass the score, five wickets down. Paul Edwards was the pick of the bowlers with 2-19.
One Day H
One Day H have also gone down fighting in their clash with Kardinya who batted first. Kardinya batted steadily and finished on 7-133, with Derek Goscombe the standout with 2-17 from his seven overs.
In reply, Armadale lost three early wickets to be 3-13 before Nikhil Noronha stepped up with a fine 48no from just 57 balls.
Unfortunately, the tail couldn’t hang around with him as they were dismissed for 114.
