Man attacks his pet dog in public
Cannington Police are seeking information about a dog owner’s alleged attack on his pet in Cannington last Friday.
About 6:30pm, the man was reported walking through the carpark of a shopping centre, towards Cecil Avenue, with a trolley and a small dog.
Police were told the man kicked the dog’s head, causing it to shake. Police patrolled the area but could not find the man.
About 7:15pm, another report was received about a man attacking a dog at the intersection of Albany Highway and Nicholson Road.
Police were told a man had picked a dog up by its head and had thrown it into a trolley he was pushing.
It was also reported the man punched the dog’s head.
A man was arrested a short time later and the dog was taken to an emergency vet for treatment.
The 47-year-old man has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty, and one count each of disorderly behaviour and conduct likely to racially harass.
He was refused bail in Perth Magistrates Court last Saturday and is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday August 2.

Crash victim abused
Officers from Road Policing Group South are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate a crash which occurred in Maddington on Monday 17 June 2024.
About 2.10pm, an e-scooter and a bicycle collided near the intersection of Burslem Drive and Olga Road.
The unknown rider of the e-scooter – believed to be male – allegedly verbally abused the 17-year-old male rider of the bicycle before leaving the scene.
The 17-year-old was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John WA for treatment of a broken leg.

Young motorcyclist killed
Another young motorcyclist has died on the Kwinana Freeway at Anketell.
Officers from Major Crash Investigation are investigating a fatal crash on Tuesday, June 4 between a white Hyundai Panel Van and an orange and black Honda motorcycle.
The two vehicles collided just before 6pm on the Kwinana Freeway as they both travelled south.
The 31-year-old male motorcycle rider was critically injured in the crash and died shortly after being taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the Hyundai Panel Van, a 76-year-old man, was not injured.

Kenwick man arrested
A 68-year-old Kenwick man has been arrested after a man was injured in a crash in Maddington on Police allege the man was driving a grey Mazda CX3 station wagon on Albany Highway at about 7.30pm when he struck a man who was walking on the road.
The accused stopped his vehicle and walked back to where the victim was laying, before he allegedly returned to his vehicle and drove away without reporting the crash to police or other emergency services.
The seriously injured 38-year-old man was taken to hospital.
Major Crash officers arrested the driver at his Kenwick home on Thursday, July 11.
He was charged with two offences and is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on Wednesday August 7 charged with failing to report the Incident and failing to stop and render assistance.
