This weekend, five players from the Year 6 team at the Gosnells Hawks Junior Football Club will celebrate an impressive milestone together as they remarkably all play their 50th game in the same match.
Lebron Galby, Charlie Mitchell, Mitchell Walker, Edwards Papas, and a fifth mighty Hawk will mark their significant achievement in their upcoming match against the Lynwood/Ferndale Panthers by leading their team through an ‘enormous’ banner, celebrating the special occasion.
The team’s president, Lisa Mitchell, mother of Charlie, will be part of the team making the banner and says she is incredibly proud of all of them.
“We’ve been involved with the club for quite a while now, and it’s the first time we can remember something like this happening; it’s a very special moment for them and the whole team.”
In addition to their shared 50-game achievement, the sportsmanship and positive attitude of the players have made a strong impression on family members.
“Win, lose, or draw, these boys give it their all,” grandmother and club volunteer Linda Wells said.
“They’re a fantastic bunch of kids who not only care about their teammates but also show respect and care towards their opposition.”
The sense of pride within the club is evident, with everyone thrilled to be a part of the occasion.
“The boys are all pumped to reach this milestone and share it with their mates,” Mitchell said; everyone at the club is extremely proud of them,” Mitchell said.
The team will face the Panthers at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 10.
