The Nganginyarra Football Club (Armadale) capped off the last round of the season with their NAIDOC celebrations and a number of special milestones.
In a gesture of deep respect and pride, Armadale Football Club chose to honour the rich heritage of the local Nyoongar people by renaming the club Nganginyarra for their NAIDOC round – the traditional name for Armadale.
An impressive jersey, designed by the Year 9 team, was worn with pride by both seniors and juniors during the day’s games and festivities.
All eyes were on the League game on Saturday, with the team celebrating two huge milestones – Alex Cummings played his 200th game which grants him life membership, and for the first time in the club’s history, Travis Clift played his 200th League game.
The men dominated in their match against Rossmoyne, finishing 39 points ahead, with a full-time score of 13.8 (86) to Rossmoyne’s 7.5(47).
The League men finish their season as undefeated minor champions of the E1 division. They are one of nine teams in the entire Perth Football League to have won every match this season.
They will now go through to the qualifying final on August 24, where they will face off against the winner of this weekend’s match.
A huge congratulations also goes to the Women’s team who also claimed the minor premiership for their WC4 division – an absolutely incredible result in their inaugural season.
They will play in the Qualifying Final against Swan Valley at Gwynne Park from 9.30am on Saturday.
