The Liberal Party is expected to decide its candidate for the Federal seat of Burt on Saturday with seven nominees striving for the position.

City of Gosnells councillors Liz Storer and David Goode have both put their names forward as well as Matt O’Sullivan, who has been touted as a protégé of mining magnate Andrew Forrest and believed to be the favourite for the seat.

Mr Sullivan, from Aubin Grove, runs the GenerationOne indigenous employment scheme through Mr Forrest’s Minderoo Foundation and helped secure funding for Challis Primary School Early Childhood program.

Ms Storer was elected to Gosnells council in 2015 and has worked for Member for Southern River Peter Abetz and Member for South Metropolitan Region Nick Goiran.

Mr Goode was elected to council in 2013 after unsuccessfully running against Member for Gosnells Chris Tallentire in the state election.

Marisa Hislop, Daniel Nickolic and Lance Scott also nominated after having previously nominated for the Canning by-election last year.

Lesley Boyd was also a Liberal hopeful for Burt.

Labor named Matt Keogh as its candidate for the seat in November last year after he lost the Canning by-election to Andrew Hastie.

A date for the federal election has not yet been set but it is believed a double dissolution election could be called in July should the Senate refuse to pass the Australian Building and Construction Commission Bill.
