The state minister for Early Childhood Education, Sabine Winton, recently joined Member for Riverton, Dr Jags Krishnan, on a tour of Riverton’s child care centres within the local community.

The visit began at the Willetton Child Care Centre, where Dr Krishnan highlighted the centre’s important role in supporting local children and families.

They then moved on to the Rostrata Family Centre, where they observed the centre’s dedication to providing valuable services to the community.

Their final stop was at Rossmoyne Community Kindergarten, where staff and children warmly welcomed Minister Winton and Dr Krishnan.

With child care being a vital service for many working parents, the federal Government offers financial support through the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

Released in July by the Department of Education, the latest data from the March quarter shows that nearly 1.5 million children from just over a million families utilised CCS-approved care.

During this period, 14,732 approved services operated, with children attending an average of 27.3 hours of care each week.

The average hourly fee for care was $12.40, and the Australian Government contributed $3.36 billion in subsidies.

Dr Krishnan said he is looking forward to visiting again soon and thanked Minister Winton for accompanying him on the tour.

“It was a delightful experience to bring Minister Winton along for the exciting tour around several of our many outstanding child care and kindergarten centres,” he said.

“We were exposed to the truly exceptional care being provided by the teachers and members of the Willetton Child Care Centre, Rostrata Family Centre, and Rossmoyne Kindergarten teams, and were overwhelmed with the wonderful commitment to providing the kids with the best experiences.”
