Police investigate Cannington sex assaults
Sex Assault Squad detectives are appealing for public information in relation to two incidents that occurred in Cannington last month.
At around 5 pm on Thursday, September 26, a woman in her 30s was sexually assaulted near the old Cannington Town Hall at the corner of Albany Highway and George Street.
Police are encouraging anyone with dashcam, mobile phone footage or CCTV of the area between 4.30 pm and 6.00 pm to report it to the police.

In a separate incident, Sex Assault Squad detectives are also seeking information regarding an incident that occurred in bushland alongside the Canning River in Cannington on Sunday, September 29.
The incident took place at approximately 1pm, involving a man and a woman in an area of bushland just off the end of Civic Gardens.
Several members of the public are believed to have been present in the vicinity of the event, including individuals walking nearby and those canoeing or kayaking on the river.
Detectives would like to identify and speak with these individuals, as they may have information that could assist with the investigation.

Five arrests follow daylight robbery in Canning Vale
Five people were arrested swiftly by Police after a home burglary in Canning Vale last Thursday, October 3.
At approximately 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm, five individuals forced their way into a home on Sarah Close and stole various jewellery items.
Officers from the Cannington Detectives’ Rapid High Harm Offender Response Team were on patrol in response to reports of suspicious activity and attempted burglaries across Thornlie, Canning Vale, and Langford.
By 3pm, a vehicle of interest was found parked in the driveway of a residence on Hargrave Drive in Thornlie.
The residence was then searched, and jewellery linked to the burglary in Canning Vale was found.
Five individuals were then arrested, including a 35-year-old man from Thornlie, a 17-year-old boy from Centennial Park, a 16-year-old boy from Katanning, and two 15-year-old boys—one from Armadale and the other from Katanning.
The 35-year-old man was refused bail and appeared in Armadale Magistrates Court on Friday, October 5, while the 16-year-old boy from Katanning and the 15-year-old boy from Armadale were also refused bail and appeared at Perth Children’s Court the same day.
The 17-year-old boy and the 15-year-old boy from Katanning are scheduled to appear in Perth Children’s Court on Monday, October 21.
Dog killed after police officer bitten on the face
A dog was killed by police in Canning Vale last Saturday afternoon after officers responded to an incident at a house on Jilakin Loop.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 pm on October 5, after police were called to reports of a disturbance at the house, which led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man.
The dog, believed to be a six-year-old staffy-labrador cross, approached a male officer during the arrest and bit him on the face.
Using non-lethal methods, officers were unable to stop the dog from continuing the attack, forcing them to shoot the dog with a gun. The dog was subsequently fatally wounded and died a short time later.
The officer who was bitten was taken by paramedics to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment of his facial injuries.
