The 2024/25 State Duathlon Championships are heading to Champion Lakes Regatta Centre this Sunday, 13 October, from 8am.

The EXSS Sprint Duathlon will welcome athletes of all levels for fast-paced run-bike-run format racing.

This thrilling event will feature various distances, including the Sprint Distance (5km run, 20km bike, 2.5km run), where participants will have the chance to vie for State Championship titles and qualification points towards the 2025 Multisport World Championships in Spain.

While the Sprint Distance is open to everyone, only members of Triathlon WA (Standard and Premium memberships) are eligible to compete for the State Championship title or to earn qualification points for the World Championships.

For those seeking a less competitive challenge, the event also includes the Bolt Distance (2.5km run, 12km bike, 1.25km run) and the Novice/Kids Distance (1km run, 6km bike, 1km run).

These race options are open to all athletes aged 10 and above.

Triathlon WA Sport Development Manager Lauren Huddy said the event was designed to inspire both seasoned athletes and newcomers to try duathlon.

“We’re excited to see competitors of all ages take part and experience the thrill of multisport racing,” she said.

“Whether you’re a future champion or simply looking to try something new, the EXSS Sprint Duathlon is the perfect event to test your endurance and have fun in a safe, community-focused atmosphere.

“We want to see everyone out there giving it a go, whether you’re an experienced athlete or new to the sport. The EXSS Sprint Duathlon is all about community, fitness, and having fun.”
