Kicking off the City of Gosnells event season, more than 3,000 people flocked to Harmony Fields in Maddington for the Hoedown at Harmony event held on Friday, October 4.
With the week’s wet weather holding off for the night, the event was filled with activities enjoyed by young and old, including line dancing, live music, pony rides for kids, games, food trucks, and a popular animal petting zoo.
Performances by country music bands The Rough Housers and Country Legends and Perth musician Andrew Winton added to the folk charm of the night.
The event, funded by an $80,000 Lotterywest grant, is integral in bringing together the local community, according to Mayor Terresa Lynes, who said it provided a fun, safe, and engaging environment for families to enjoy.
“There was a fantastic turnout to our second, bigger-and-better, Hoedown at Harmony event, held at Harmony Fields in Maddington. It was great to see so many families from our local community and beyond come together,” Mayor Lynes said.
“I would like to acknowledge our fabulous Programs and Events Team, who worked hard behind the scenes to deliver this spectacular event, and all Councillors for supporting the City’s events program.”
The next major event hosted by the City of Gosnells, just three weeks away, is the Fusion Food and Culture Festival, taking place at Mills Park, Beckenham, from 4 pm to 9 pm on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9.
