Ten proud State Emergency Services volunteers were recognised for their service to the Armadale SES unit at a recent awards night.

The Armadale unit prides itself on having a dedicated group of members who commit themselves for the long haul. This year’s awarded members have accrued a total of 105 years of dedicated service between them.

One member, Tracey, was recognised for clocking up 20 years of service.

While three long-term volunteers (Steven, Jodie and Simon) received the National Medal which recognises long and diligent service by members of recognised government and voluntary organisations who risk their lives or safety to protect or assist the community in enforcement of the law or in times of emergency or natural disaster. At least 15 years of service is required to qualify for the honour.

One member, Star, also received her certificate of appointment and said she is looking forward to attaining her long service medal as well.

Unit volunteer Ron said Armadale SES has several more members who have been with the unit for a long time, with three members looking at reaching 30 years next year and another member going for 35 years.

“With a close-knit group and another 20 members I am sure that we will see more reaching these goals as well,” he said.
