Festival-goers are being encouraged by the City of Gosnells to take advantage of a free shuttle service running from Maddington Central to Mills Park for the Fusion Food and Culture Festival happening this weekend.
With close to 40,000 people expected to attend the festival on Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 9 pm, parking will be extremely limited.
The free shuttle bus will operate throughout the event, with buses to the festival beginning at 3:45 pm and departing to and from approximately every 30 minutes.
The pick-up and drop-off point at Maddington Central will be located at the Kmart end of the shopping centre, off Herbert Street, while at Mills Park, the drop-off and collection point will be in front of the Mills Park Centre and Mills Park Library.
With such a large crowd expected, Mayor Terresa Lynes is encouraging residents to use the free shuttle bus service, and those who do could win a $500 gift card from Maddington Central shopping centre.
“The shuttle bus is a convenient and easy way to get to and from the Fusion Food and Culture Festival, which is an event not to be missed,” Mayor Terresa Lynes said.
“We want to encourage visitors to Fusion to be mindful of nearby residents and the many pedestrians as they enter and leave the event.”
The City has sourced five shuttle buses for the event, including two low-floor models for wheelchair access and one large bus equipped with a wheelchair hoist.
The final shuttle bus back to Maddington Central will depart at approximately 9:45 pm on both nights.
Over the two nights, the festival will feature a captivating mix of live performances on the main Fusion Stage and the Great Beginnings Viva Stage, along with roving entertainment and a Global Village filled with stallholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Attendees can also enjoy subsidised carnival rides, youth and children’s activities, and food trucks serving cuisine from a wide range of countries and cultures.
Among the highlights at Fusion this year will be a giant winged humanoid puppet known as The Messenger, making its first visit to Western Australia.
The futuristic archangel-style puppet, towering over 5 metres tall, will be illuminated by LED lighting and brought to life by eight puppeteers and performers.
