Tahoe Close in Thornlie was named the 'best street' winner of last year's City of Gosnells' Safe City Christmas Lights Competition.

With the festive season upon us, the City of Gosnells is calling on residents to brighten their neighbourhoods and spread Christmas cheer by entering this year’s Safe City Christmas Lights Competition, which is now open for entries.

Open to all residents of the City of Gosnells, the competition offers cash prizes of $500 for the best individual display and $1,000 for the best street display.

Additional prizes include $200 for Best First-Time Entry, three $100 vouchers for Runners-Up in Best Private Residence, and two $50 vouchers from a random draw.

Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes believes the competition is a wonderful way to share the Christmas spirit within our local community.

“Residents and families love getting out and about to enjoy local Christmas light displays in their neighbourhood, and this is a fantastic way to get into the festive spirit and spread Christmas cheer,” Mayor Lynes said.

“The Safe City Christmas Lights Competition encourages residents to get to know their neighbours and enjoy walking around their neighbourhood, which can provide a sense of community safety.”

The winner of the 2023 ‘Best Private Residence’ award in the Safe City Christmas Lights Competition, who won $500 for their display.

Last year, many entrants who lit up their homes or streets used the opportunity to fundraise for their chosen charities.

Entries close on Sunday, December 8, with judging taking place on Tuesday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 11, where entrants must have their lights on from 5 pm to 11 pm.

The winners of the competition will be announced at the City’s Jingle All the Way event on Saturday, December 14.
