With the countdown to the festive season underway, the City of Canning’s Civic Amphitheatre is set to come alive on Saturday, December 14, as it hosts the City’s popular annual Christmas Carols Concert.
Beginning at 5:30 pm, the free family event will feature a range of kids’ activities, including Santa’s post box, face painting, roving entertainers, craft stations, and plenty of festive photo opportunities.
Then, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, the full celebration will begin with joyful carols, lots of merry performances, and, of course, a special visit from the big man himself, Santa Claus.
Set to perform on the night are the Avenue Jazz Band, Canning City Brass Band, Enchanted Bells, Rossmoyne Community Singers, and more.
Mayor Patrick Hall said the Christmas Carols Concert is a perfect occasion for families and friends to come together, enjoy the festivities, and reconnect with the spirit of Christmas.
“This time of year is all about spending time with loved ones, being grateful for the year that we have had, looking forward to the year ahead, thinking of those less fortunate than us, and remembering the true meaning of Christmas,” Mayor Hall said.
“Each year, we have a fantastic turnout at this event. The City’s free Christmas Carols Concert is the perfect place to catch up and embrace the festive spirit, and it’s great to see our entire community coming together to celebrate this very special time of year.”
Community members are encouraged to bring a low chair, rug, and picnic and enjoy a fantastic evening of singing and entertainment.
Food trucks will be on-site, offering snacks and refreshments available for purchase.
There will be plenty of travel options for the Christmas Carols, with ample parking off George Street West, limited parking off Carden Drive, bike racks at the event, and a bus stop on Albany Highway, directly outside the Council building.
Dogs are welcome at the event, provided they stay on a lead
