The narwhals are on their way to the US of A.
After blowing everyone else out of the water at the First Lego League WA
Forrestfield Regional Finals, the John Wollaston Anglican Community School ‘Narwhal’ team have grabbed the whale by the horn and earned themselves a ticket to Houston, for the FIRST Championship.
The FIRST Championship is a culminating, international youth robotics competition and an annual celebration of science, technology, engineering, and maths.
This year the City of Houston hosted the largest FIRST Championship event to date, with approximately 50,000 attendees and more than 1000 robots from more than 50 countries. The April 2025 event is shaping up to be even bigger.
But the Narwhals weren’t the only JWACS team to taste glory.
Last Saturday, three JWACS teams attended the First Lego League (FLL) National Championship West at Curtin University, and all achieved truly extraordinary results.
A huge shout out goes to the Year 7 team for winning the Robot Game and the Engineering Excellence Award.
And a special mention goes to the JWACS Year 10 team for winning the Breakthrough Award.
The school has praised the students’ dedication, with many hours spent team-building, robot-building, coding and researching their projects. And credit was also given to Mrs LeVaillant and Mr Fox for giving their time and expertise to support the winning students throughout the competition.
