There was a collective head-scratching moment last night when a road train managed to get stuck at the top of the Jull Street Mall.
Emergency Services were called at a quarter to eight and arrived to find a B-triple had wedged its last trailer under the Subway awning.
The road was completely blocked by the truck in both directions.
Two Armadale fire crews helped stabilise the truck so it didn’t roll, and a crane was called for to lift the trailer out of its predicament.
The driver – a man in his 50s – was uninjured.
All was cleared by 1am. The awning is a little bruised, but Subway was open as usual this morning.
The amusing situation went viral on social media last night, with many quite rightly questioning why a truck that size had attempted to take that corner, or how it had even managed to get there in the first place.
Some were quick to point out that perhaps the driver should have gone to Specsavers, except, ironically, that’s where the truck ended up.
At this stage, emergency services are unable to enlighten us on the ‘why’ and ‘how’.
