Bail for Kenwick hit-and-run accused

A man from Orange Grove accused of fleeing the scene of a serious crash in Kenwick, which has left a cyclist in hospital with life-threatening injuries, has been granted bail and is still allowed to drive.
At approximately 7:50 pm on Friday, January 3, a 54-year-old man was riding a bicycle across Belmont Road in Kenwick when it’s alleged he was struck by a vehicle.

The cyclist sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

On Sunday, January 5, Major Crash Investigators seized a silver Hyundai Getz hatch and arrested 64-year-old Paul Patrick Mulligan in relation to the crash.

He has been charged with failing to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm and failing to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm.

Mulligan appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on Monday, where he was granted bail as the matter was adjourned to allow him to seek legal advice.

He is due back in court on January 28.

Investigators are seeking any CCTV, dash-cam, or mobile phone footage of the silver Hyundai Getz being driven in Kenwick and surrounding areas before and after the crash. Footage can be uploaded directly to investigators via this link:

Assailants assault 71-year-old in Kenwick home invasion

Armadale Detectives are seeking public assistance after a 71-year-old man was assaulted during a home invasion in Kenwick.

Late on Friday, December 20, at around 11.45 pm, three unknown individuals approached a residence on Boab Cove and tried to break in through the front door.

After failing to gain entry, the trio entered through the rear door.
The victim, a 71-year-old man who was alone at home, heard the noise and went to the front of the property to call his son.

Armed with weapons, the trio followed the victim to the front of the house and physically assaulted him while demanding money.

The suspects fled on foot with stolen items from the victim’s home.
The 71-year-old man, left with cuts and bruises, was later taken to Armadale Hospital for treatment.

Motorcyclist killed in Canning Vale collision

Major Crash Investigators are seeking information following a fatal collision in Canning Vale on Sunday, December 22, 2024, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

At around 11:10 pm, a black motorcycle travelling south on Nicholson Road and a black sedan heading north on the same road were involved in a collision.

Sadly, the motorcycle rider died from their injuries at the scene.
The driver of the black sedan, an 18-year-old male, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of injuries received in the crash.

Cannington Police track down stolen moped

With the assistance of the police air wing, Cannington Police have successfully recovered a stolen moped, returning the Christmas gift to its grateful owners.

The recovery came after Cannington Police received multiple reports from the public on Sunday, December 28, about a stolen moped being driven around the Queens Park area.

Once alerted, Cannington Police, with the assistance of the police air wing, coordinated a response and observed the stolen moped where they attempted to intercept the male rider.

When the rider failed to stop, the police helicopter tracked the moped to a different address, where the man was safely arrested inside.

The rider of the stolen moped, a 23-year-old man from Queens Park, was subsequently charged by Police.

Cannington Police recovered the stolen moped and returned it to the thankful family.

Beckenham blaze sparks police appeal

Strike Force Vulcan officers are seeking public assistance following a suspicious fire at Mills Park in Beckenham on Sunday, December 22.

At approximately 10:50 pm, police were called to a scrub fire at the park near Bickley Road. Upon their arrival, Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews were already on the scene battling the blaze.

Arson investigators are seeking the identity of this man, who was seen near a suspicious fire at Mills Park in Beckenham on December 22.

Officers are seeking the identity of a man (pictured) seen carrying a skateboard who was present in the area around the time of the fire.

He is described as fair-skinned and was wearing a light-coloured hoodie and dark pants.

Police believe the man pictured may be able to assist with the investigation.

Information leading to the identification and conviction of an arsonist could result in a reward of up to $25,000.

Man faces charges over cyclist collision

A 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of careless driving causing death, grievous bodily harm or bodily harm, following an incident on Welshpool Road East earlier this month.

Just before 6 am on Thursday, December 12, a silver Ford Falcon sedan and a group of cyclists collided while travelling east on Welshpool Road East, near the intersection of Melaleuca Road in Lesmurdie.

Two male riders, aged 26 and 49, were transported to Royal Perth Hospital by St John WA with serious injuries.

The 29-year-old male, alleged to have been the driver of the silver Ford Falcon sedan, did not sustain any injuries.

The man is due to appear in court at a later date.
